Ethica restaurant stands for clean water for everyone

For example, we are a proud part of the Dopper Wave, we fight against the use of disposable water bottles and we support projects that improve water supplies for orphaned girls in Kenya.

Ethica restaurant stands for clean water for everyone

From 2024, the use of disposable plastic cups and plastic meal packaging will no longer be permitted if you eat or drink something on site in a catering establishment, at a festival or at the office. But why wait until 2024 when we can already make an impact now?!

As you know, try Ethica work as sustainably as possible. A strategy in which plastic pollution - not entirely surprisingly - does not belong. That is why we have chosen to ban disposable water bottles from our organization and from our events.

We believe that with small, daily actions we can prevent large quantities of disposable water bottles from ending up in our oceans. That is why we have joined the Dopper Wave and signed the statement to:

1. Ban disposable water bottles from our organization
2. Encourage colleagues and visitors to drink tap water whenever and wherever possible
3. Remind everyone to always have their reusable water bottle with them
4. Inspire other organizations and people to join the Dopper Wave

This means very concretely that you Ethica you will not find disposable water bottles and that we will gladly fill your sustainable drinking bottle for you. We say it again; Ethica restaurant stands for clean water for everyone!

Why are we doing this?

Every minute, a truckload of plastic waste ends up in our oceans. In that same minute, 1 million disposable plastic bottles are sold worldwide. (Oops.) Fortunately, we can do something about that and contribute to the fight against plastic pollution.

Some facts and figures

• Disposable water bottles are made from oil and other fossil fuels from a highly polluting industry.
• Only 9% of all plastic produced has ever been recycled. The rest is dumped on a rubbish dump, incinerated or ends up as litter.
• 8 million tons of plastic ends up in our oceans every year. That explains why 80% of all the waste in the oceans is plastic (of which 49% is disposable plastic).
• Unless we act now, it is estimated that by 2050 the weight of plastic in the oceans will exceed the weight of fish.

Fortunately, there is also good news.

Clearly, it's time for action. For us, this means that we ban all disposable water bottles and encourage drinking tap water. Preferably our water Eco Tap water because with this you not only drink deliciously pure water, but you also help the environment and become Kenyan orphan girls provided with clean drinking water! So a real win-win.

Will you join us?

Did you know that you can also join the Dopper Wave. That may not sound very impressive in the big (plastic) picture, but you are not a lonely drop in an ocean full of plastic pollution. You are part of a wave of change. Because together we can turn the tide. Together we save the oceans.
